Job Description:
Total Force Alliance (TFA) is seeking a talented Senior Java Developer with 10+ years of professional experience in designing and developing robust, scalable enterprise applications. This position will be supporting the U.S. Internal Revenue Services (IRS) Computer Assisted Publishing System (CAPS) program based in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Java technologies, cloud architecture, and modern application design, with a passion for clean, maintainable code.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of Java-based applications using Spring Boot and related frameworks.
- Build, consume, and document RESTful APIs for internal and external integrations.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to implement and support CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployments (AWS preferred).
- Work with relational and NoSQL databases to support various business needs.
- Drive technical discussions, mentor junior developers, and contribute to code reviews.
- Implement and maintain scalable microservices and containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Ensure application performance, security, and reliability across all stages of development.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in Java application development.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline
- Deep understanding of Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security, and Hibernate/JPA.
- Strong experience with REST APIs, JSON, and web application architecture.
- Proficiency in SQL and working with relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
- Hands-on experience with front-end frameworks like React or Angular.
- Solid knowledge of microservices architecture and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including cloud-native architecture and components such as load balancers, API gateways, service discovery, and monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch).
- Skilled in build and automation tools (Maven/Gradle, Jenkins) and version control (Git).
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and team collaboration skills.
- Must have strong analytical skills and be detail oriented
- Must feel comfortable interacting with clients
- Must have effective verbal communication skills

- Candidate must have been a U.S. resident for at least 3 consecutive years immediately prior to this engagement and must be able to obtain and retain an IRS Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) clearance.

- This position is hybrid; candidate must be able to work 2 days per week at a local IRS office and 3 days telework.
